Champagne glasses stopped moving.
Wealthy guests stared openly beneath the glowing skyline while the older blonde woman stood above them in a gold gown like a queen delivering a sentence.
“Take him and leave.”
The child buried his face deeper into the younger woman’s shoulder, trembling with fear.
The brunette tried to speak—
but the blonde woman cut her off instantly.
“I don’t care. You’re finished.”
Silence crushed the rooftop.
Whispers spread behind crystal glasses.
Humiliation filled the air.

Then suddenly—
the younger woman’s breathing slowed.
The panic disappeared from her face completely.
She tightened one arm around the little boy and slowly lifted her eyes toward the blonde woman.
Cold now.
Controlled.
“You just made the worst mistake of your life.”
For the first time that night, the older woman looked uncertain.
“What did you say?”
Still kneeling, the brunette calmly pulled a black phone from her clutch.
Every guest stopped pretending not to listen.
She lifted the phone to her ear.
“Close every store.”
A painful pause.
“Five minutes.”
The blonde woman’s face began losing color.
The younger woman slowly stood to her feet while holding the frightened child.
Completely calm now.
Dangerously calm.
“And freeze her access.”
Several guests gasped loudly.
Then a respectful voice answered through the phone—
“Yes, ma’am. Your company is—”
The blonde woman froze in absolute horror as she realized who she had humiliated.
