The scream ripped across the luxury pool like glass shattering.
Whip-pan—
a tiny backpack floated alone near the deep end of the crystal-blue water.
Pool guests turned instantly.
Cocktails stopped halfway to lips.
Children froze mid-laugh.
At the edge of the pool, a soaked little girl pointed at the water with trembling hands, crying so hard she could barely breathe.
“My brother!”
A lifeguard sprinted across the marble poolside.
“MOVE!”
But suddenly—
a wealthy man in dark sunglasses grabbed his arm violently.
“This is private.”
The entire resort went silent.
The little girl screamed even louder now.
“He can’t swim!”
The lifeguard ripped his arm free.
“How long?!”
The girl collapsed to her knees sobbing.
“Too long!”
Silence crushed the pool.
Then—
SPLASH.
The lifeguard dove deep into the water.
Everything became muffled blue darkness.
Bubbles drifted upward slowly.
The sound of the world disappeared.
Underwater, the lifeguard swam desperately toward the bottom of the pool.
Close-up—
a tiny child’s shoe slowly sinking beside the drain.
Heartbeat.
Slow.
Heavy.
Terrifying.
Above water, guests stood frozen around the pool.
Nobody spoke.
The rich man slowly removed his sunglasses.
And for the first time—
fear entered his face.
Because near the floating backpack—
he suddenly recognized the small cartoon keychain attached to it.
His lips parted slowly.
“No…”
Underwater—
the lifeguard reached forward through the dark blue water.
Fading bubbles.
Outstretched fingers.
Then—
a tiny child’s hand appeared from the darkness.
But wrapped tightly around the child’s wrist—
was the same gold watch the rich man reported stolen that morning.
