The ballroom remained frozen in silence after the maid’s whisper.
“I only wanted to save your life…”
The groom slowly turned toward the bride.
Her face had gone completely pale.
“No…” she whispered weakly. “I didn’t do this…”
But before anyone could speak again, an elderly man from the back of the ballroom suddenly shouted:
“Check the ring camera footage!”
All eyes turned toward the massive decorative flower arch near the champagne tower.
A hidden security camera light blinked red.
The groom grabbed the maid’s phone with trembling hands while guests crowded behind him in panic.
The video switched.
New footage appeared.
The ballroom kitchen.
A masked man wearing black gloves opened a small silver packet and poured white powder into the groom’s drink tray.
Gasps exploded across the hall.
Then the masked man removed his hood.
The bride screamed instantly.
“Dad?!”
The entire ballroom turned toward her father — the wealthy businessman standing near the stage.
His face went white.
The groom staggered backward in shock.
“You tried to kill me?”
The father’s eyes filled with rage.
“You were never supposed to marry her!”
Suddenly he pulled a handgun from inside his jacket.
Guests screamed and ducked beneath tables.
The bride burst into tears.
“Dad, stop!”
But before he could raise the weapon —
the maid threw herself in front of the groom.
A deafening gunshot echoed through the ballroom.
The crystal chandeliers trembled.
For one horrifying second, nobody moved.
Then the maid collapsed into the groom’s arms.
Blood spread across her servant uniform as the guests screamed in terror.
The groom held her tightly.
“Why would you do this?!”
The maid looked up at him with tears streaming down her face.
Because…
twenty years ago…
your mother saved my life.
Her trembling hand slowly opened around a small golden necklace.
The groom froze.
He recognized it instantly.
It belonged to his mother… who disappeared when he was a child.
The maid whispered weakly:
“She was my sister…”
The groom’s eyes filled with tears.
The bride stared in complete shock.
And her father slowly lowered the gun…
realizing the woman he shot…
was actually family.
