PART 2: Nobody expected the scream to come from a chair scraping across marble.

The luxury restaurant froze in one second.

Soft piano stopped mid-note.
Crystal glasses trembled.
Heads turned all at once.

In the center aisle stood a little girl.

Thin.
Dirty.
Wearing oversized torn clothes.
Shaking so hard it looked like she might fall.

In her hand was a tiny gold locket.

At the nearest candlelit table sat a wealthy woman in diamonds and silk.
Elegant.
Cold.

Untouchable.

She looked at the child with disgust.

“You can’t be in here.”

The girl swallowed hard.

“I… I just need one minute.”

The entire room went silent.

Her fingers trembled as she opened the locket.

Click.

Inside was an old photo.

A younger glamorous woman…
holding a newborn baby in her arms.

The wealthy woman froze.
Her breath caught.

“That photo…”

Guests leaned forward.
Phones slowly rose into the air.

The woman stood up and stepped closer.
Her voice was lower now.

“Where did you get that?”

The girl gripped the locket tighter.
Tears filled her eyes.

“My mom… hid it for me.”

The woman’s face changed.

“Who is your mother?”

The camera moved close as the girl forced the words out through tears.

“She said the woman in this picture sold me… and never looked back.”

The woman’s wine glass slipped from her fingers.

It fell in slow motion.

Her face turned pale with terror.

And just before the glass shattered—
