Lewis thought it would be a normal grocery run.
Just bread, turkey, cheese… then back home to the woman still sleeping in his bed.
The supermarket was bright and calm, carts rolling, scanners beeping, people lost in their own routines.
Then everything shattered.
A glass pickle jar slipped from a woman’s hands and exploded across the floor. Brine splashed over polished tiles. Heads turned instantly.
Before anyone could react, a little boy pointed straight at Lewis and shouted:

“Mom! He looks exactly like Dad!”
The store went silent.
Lewis slowly turned.
A beautiful woman stood frozen beside the broken glass, staring at him like she had seen a ghost. Her lips trembled.
“Lewis…?” she whispered.
He frowned.
“Do I know you?”
Tears filled her eyes. She took one shaky step forward.

“It’s me…”
The boy grabbed her hand, still staring at Lewis.
“Why do you have Daddy’s face?” he asked softly.
Lewis’s basket slipped in his hands. Bread rolled onto the floor.
The woman moved closer, voice breaking.
“You disappeared seven years ago…”
Lewis felt the air leave his chest.
“What?”
Shoppers gathered around them, no longer filming… just watching.
Then the boy opened his backpack and pulled out an old family photo.
Lewis stared at it.
The picture showed the same woman… holding a baby boy… while a man with Lewis’s exact face stood beside them.
His skin turned pale.
The woman leaned in, eyes locked on his.
“Then who is the woman waiting in your bed right now?”
Lewis stopped breathing.
And from behind him… a familiar female voice suddenly said:
“Ask him who you are first.”
