“I want to dance!”
Every head turned.
Beside a black wheelchair stood an eight-year-old girl in a blue princess dress, tears on her cheeks, small hands reaching toward the dance floor she thought belonged to everyone except her.
The room fell silent.
Before anyone else moved, a nine-year-old boy in a black tuxedo stepped forward and held out his hand.
“Come on.”
The camera pushed close as she stared at him, terrified and hopeful at once. Then slowly… she rose.
Her prosthetic legs caught the chandelier light.

She shook violently. Nearly fell.
The crowd gasped.
The boy caught her hand instantly.
“I’ve got you.”
Together they stepped onto the center of the floor. One step. Then another. The room watched without breathing.
Her blue dress trembled as she turned carefully in a slow circle.
Then she laughed through tears.
“I’m dancing!”
Guests began crying openly. Applause started in one corner, then spread like thunder.
The girl looked at the boy, then slowly released his hand.
She stood there alone. Strong. Smiling.
The camera whipped toward the back of the room where her father stood frozen, tears streaming down his face.
She looked straight at him and said proudly:
“Daddy… I did it.”
The camera slammed into his broken, joyful face as the ballroom erupted in applause.
