“That’s mine.”
Customers turned instantly.
In the rich woman’s fingers sparkled a diamond ring worth more than most people’s homes.
She laughed coldly.
“No… it’s not.”
The girl’s clothes were old, her shoes torn, her hands shaking.
But her eyes never left the ring.
The manager stepped between them.

“Miss… step back.”
The child swallowed hard.
“Look inside.”
The woman rolled her eyes.
“Inside what?”
“The ring.”
Something in the girl’s voice made everyone freeze.
With visible irritation, the rich woman slowly turned the band over.
Then her face changed.
All the color drained from it.
Engraved inside were two words:
Elena Forever
Her fingers began to tremble.
“What… is this?”
The little girl stepped closer.
“Read it.”
The woman whispered the name again.
“Elena…”
Tears filled her eyes.
That was the name of the maid she had fired twenty years ago after accusing her of theft.
The same maid who vanished the next day.
The same maid whose fiancé had saved for years to buy this ring before disappearing in prison for a crime he never committed.
The girl’s voice cracked.
“She was my mother.”
The rich woman stumbled backward.
Because she remembered one more thing.
She was the one who planted the stolen necklace.
And destroyed their lives.
