Part 2: The Blow That Changed Everything

My father attacked me with a brick after my fiancé refused to leave me for my younger sister. As I collapsed on the lawn, my mother laughed and sneered, “Let’s see if Wyatt still wants you now.” They thought they had destroyed my future, but before I reached the hospital, six witnesses and a forgotten will had already turned their cruelty into the evidence that would bring them down.

## Part 1: The Blow That Changed Everything

The afternoon I intended to announce my wedding date became the day my family tried to destroy my future. One moment, I was standing outside my parents’ home in my favorite blue dress. The next, my father struck me with a brick, sending me toward the porch before Wyatt caught me.

**“Sadie! Stay with me. Look at me!”**

I struggled to focus, but one side of my vision had gone dark. Then I saw something more frightening than my father’s attack: my mother was smiling.

**“Let’s see whether Wyatt still loves you now.”**

My father discarded the broken brick without a trace of remorse.

**“I warned you.”**

Melanie emerged onto the porch in an expensive dress, looking annoyed rather than horrified.

**“I told you she wouldn’t move.”**

Mom released an impatient sigh. **“We tried asking nicely.”**

Wyatt steadied me against a porch column before turning toward them, furious.

**“Every one of you is sick.”**

Dad pointed at Melanie. **“No. You’re simply engaged to the wrong daughter.”**

My parents had spent months pressuring Wyatt to abandon me after he sold his construction company for millions. Melanie followed him everywhere, convinced his newfound wealth should belong to her. But Wyatt had rejected her every time.

**“I love Sadie!”**

**“You’ll get over her,”** Dad replied.

When Wyatt reached for his phone, my father knocked it across the porch and declared that nobody was calling for help. Their argument finally attracted the attention of an electrician arriving for scheduled work.

**“I’m calling an ambulance,”** he said.

Dad threatened to accuse him of starting the confrontation, but the electrician refused to be intimidated. For the first time that evening, my father stepped back.

As the paramedics carried me away, I glanced toward the house and noticed an elderly man standing behind the living-room curtain. He pressed a trembling hand against the glass, then disappeared. I did not yet understand that this mysterious stranger, six witnesses, and a forgotten family secret were about to dismantle everything my parents believed they controlled.

At the emergency room, doctors and nurses moved quickly, documenting my condition and preserving evidence.

**“My father attacked me with a brick,”** I told them.

The room became silent before Dr. Evelyn Hart nodded reassuringly.

**“All right. We’re going to take care of you.”**

Wyatt never left my side.

**“I loved you before tonight, and I still love you. I’ll be here through every operation, every scar, every difficult night, and every courtroom.”**

When detectives arrived, I told them the truth that sounded almost impossible.

**“My family planned this.”**

Detective Aaron Beckett returned minutes later with startling news. Six independent witnesses had already supported my account. My father was under arrest, while my mother and Melanie were being questioned.

Only one mystery remained: the frightened elderly man behind the curtain had vanished.

Shortly before I was taken into surgery, a hospital volunteer handed Wyatt a sealed envelope left by an unidentified visitor. Inside was the business card of estate attorney Samuel Grayson. Six handwritten words appeared on the back:

**“Ask about your grandfather’s final will.”**
