PART 2: The crystal chandeliers shimmered above the grand marble ballroom while soft piano notes drifted through the air like fragile glass. Elegant guests stood frozen in a silent circle, their reflections glowing across the polished floor. Nobody spoke. Nobody even breathed too loudly.

The crystal chandeliers shimmered above the grand marble ballroom while soft piano notes drifted through the air like fragile glass. Elegant guests stood frozen in a silent circle, their reflections glowing across the polished floor. Nobody spoke. Nobody even breathed too loudly.

At the center of the room sat a tiny girl in a wheelchair.

Her fingers trembled so badly they could barely grip the armrests.

The soft creak of the chair echoed through the silence.

Then—

a boy slowly knelt in front of her.

Calm.
Steady.
Fearless.

“You can do it.”

The girl looked up at him instantly, eyes already wet with panic. Around her stood wealthy strangers in tuxedos and silk gowns, all staring with unbearable intensity.

Her breathing shook.

“They’re all looking at me…”

The words barely escaped her lips before tears spilled down her cheeks.

The boy moved closer.

Closer than anyone else dared.

“Then don’t look at them.”

His voice was soft.

Certain.

He gently squeezed both of her shaking hands.

“Look at me.”

The room fell even quieter somehow.

The girl slowly lifted her eyes from the crowd and locked onto his face instead. Her lips trembled violently. A tear slid down her cheek.

“I’m scared…”

The boy nodded immediately.

“I know.”

For one second, even the piano seemed to disappear.

“But I’m here.”

Several guests covered their mouths.

One woman in diamonds quietly started crying.

The girl inhaled sharply.

Then leaned forward.

The wheelchair groaned softly behind her.

Her legs shook so hard it looked impossible for them to hold anything at all. The boy instantly wrapped one arm carefully around her waist.

“Slowly… I’ve got you.”

She pushed upward—

and nearly collapsed immediately.

Gasps exploded around the ballroom.

But he caught her before she hit the floor.

Her face twisted in pain.
Fear.
Hope.

Then she tried again.

Harder this time.

Her knees trembled violently—

before slowly straightening.

The crowd froze in total disbelief.

A man near the back whispered,
“Oh my God…”

The girl cried openly now, clinging to the boy while her body shook uncontrollably.

She was standing.

Actually standing.

Tears streamed down her face as she stared at him like she couldn’t understand what was happening.

“I can…”

Then suddenly—

her foot moved forward by itself.

One tiny step.

The ballroom ERUPTED into screams and sobbing at once.

Phones flew upward.
People cried openly.
Someone dropped a champagne glass.

But the boy didn’t smile.

Because his eyes suddenly shifted behind her.

Toward the wheelchair.

Slowly—

silently—

it began rolling backward completely on its own.

The girl noticed his expression.

Her smile disappeared instantly.

And then—

the wheelchair stopped.

Right in the middle of the ballroom.
