PART 2: The summer heat shimmered across the quiet suburban street while lawn mowers buzzed somewhere in the distance.

An old pickup truck sat in a driveway beside scattered tools and oil stains baking under the afternoon sun.

Then—

⚡ CLANG.

A greasy metal wrench crashed hard onto the concrete.

The camera whip-panned toward Jack storming across the driveway, grease still covering his hands.

In front of him stood a fragile ten-year-old boy in an oversized jacket and dark blue baseball cap.

Beside him sat a golden retriever service dog.

Calm.

Watching.

Jack ripped the baseball cap off the boy’s head in one angry motion.

The cap flew into the grass.

— “Show some respect.”

And suddenly—

everything went silent.

The little boy froze completely.

His hands shot to his ears.

His breathing became shaky and uneven.

Then the golden retriever instantly stepped between them.

Low protective growl.

Body lowered.

Guarding the child.

Jack stumbled backward immediately.

— “Okay… okay…”

The camera pushed closer toward the boy’s face.

Without the cap—

Jack finally saw it.

A long surgical scar running across the side of the child’s head.

His anger disappeared instantly.

Replaced by horror.

The boy rocked slightly as tears rolled down his cheeks.

— “Samson… sit…”

But the dog refused to move.

Still protecting him.

Jack looked down at the baseball cap lying in the dirt.

Then back at the trembling child.

His own hands started shaking now.

The realization hit all at once.

This wasn’t disrespect.

This was fear.

Pain.

Trauma.

Jack took a slow step backward.

His voice cracked apart.

— “Oh God… kid, I…”

Before he could finish—

⚡ BANG.

A screen door slammed open down the street.

The camera whip-panned violently.

A large man sprinted toward them in panic.

— “Leo!”

The father’s eyes instantly locked onto the scene:

Leo crying.
Samson guarding him.
The cap in the dirt.
Jack standing frozen with guilt.

Marcus charged forward without slowing down.

And Jack finally understood exactly how terrible he looked.

The camera crash-zoomed into his devastated face.

His lips trembled.

— “I’m the monster…”
